Advertising can tell you a lot about a country
Generally, people think that advertising only reveals some truth and hopes about a product or service. They might think so because all advertisements are designed only to let people know something positive about a certain thing. However, if some people have a keen sense of detector, they may discover easily some information about a country in an advertisement.First of all, an advertisement consists of two main parts; text and image. Therefore, by recognizing the kind of the letter in the advertisement from a certain country, many people are able to learn which language is mainly spoken in that country. For example, when I, who saw some English written in some advertisement from Australia, was young, I could guess English is one of the official languages in Australia. Moreover, from some images this repetitively appeared in advertisement of a country, people are able to also figure out what would be the main industry in that country. For instance, my friend, 25, a large cell-phone company in Korea, always recommends that Samsung cell phone, which is made from Korea, extremely famous in the world, is better than other kinds of cell phones. However, most Koreans tend to understand that Finland is the most famous for its cell phone all over the world because via some pictures of cell phone in advertisement of Nokia from beginning with 21th, the No.1, Finnish maker of cell phone. To summarize, the advertising are able to display us about a country and main industry. Thus I agree with the statement that advertising can tell you a lot about a county. In addition, you may also find the country’s level of design in general, through various advertising of a country.

School Is Bad for Children?
In “School is bad for children,” which is reported by John Holt, he indicated his personal opinion, which is that the society needs to end the formal education system. In his essay, John Holt displayed four different kinds of perspectives on why school is bad for children. Is abolishing education system beneficial for children? Exactly it will be not. There are several reasons for disagreeing with Holt’s point of view, such as his idea to abolish compulsory school attendance, get kids out of the school, meet more people, and do it themselves everything.
First of all, Holt displayed that compulsory school attendance should be abolished (Holt 60). However, if mandatory school attendance has not existed, all of human right also does not survive anywhere. Required school attendance, which is one of the standards of values in human life, demands that each child have to attend school all over the world. While attending school, they are able to learn a lot of things including basic knowledge, history, morality, and arithmetic. Whether these things are beneficial for children or not, they are able to learn their own judgment through participation in school regularly. Even for people does not need to attend school, personal relationship between teachers and peers in school is also a significant education in their childhood.
Moreover, the author asserted that senior people need to get kids out of the school buildings, and give them a chance to learn about the world at first hand (60). Going to libraries, museums, exhibits, courtrooms, business, TV stations, and laboratories are important curriculum. If then, suppose children get out of the school in order to learn about their world without a theory of a subject. It is evident that children will feel so confused about working study program with theoretical defects. For instance, if they learned some knowledge of Art before going to the art museum, it will be more useful experience than go up to there with no definite object in view. As everybody knows, all schools have plans to hold a sandwich course, which is an education course in which children have periods of study between periods of being at work. That is enough for children.
In addition, the writer declared that children need to meet more people who are not full-time teachers into the schools and into contact with the children (61). However, this idea is totally wrong because an one-sided conversation with external influences will bring some disorders to children. Most children who do not establish even their one’s values need to get more fundamental education. Since they are not fully grown to have an objective perspective, they need people who can guide them to think critically and act responsibly. Therefore, meeting novelists, poets, playwrights or practicing attorneys will be better for adolescents than children.
Also, Holt argued that adults should let children do it themselves (61). Objections. Basically, the fact that a kid learns to do all by him/her self is extremely dangerous without teachers. They are not completed with an objective standard. It means that they can depend on mass media to do something themselves such as action movies, comics or TV programs. Many curious children will start bad behavior earlier than other friends who are learning education with teachers. Because of mass media, they are exposed to adult behaviors, for example, smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol, which contain harmful poisons and addictive drugs.
To summarize, there are four opposing perspectives comparing to John Holt’s essay which have presented that school is bad for children; Children would not be beneficial for abolishing education system in school although not wanting to go to school. Rather than abolishing education system and letting students study outside, adults and teachers need to encourage students to engage in school actively.

(600A) View on Culture Difference -DongWon Lee-
In the same country, it is different culture which depends on a home back ground. Therefore, it is nature of things that countries have different culture. Most people might feel bad due to different culture, and sometimes many of them are not able to understand why their countries do. It is evident that different culture is that something is not better than others. It is just a point of difference; for instance, if a person was born in Africa and grew up, he/she might follow their culture. Like this, there are a lot of dissimilarities between Korea and the U.S.
The one of the different things is private tutoring. Americans also have cram schools that help get a high score in tests, but Korea boasts a wide variety of private institutes. For instance, most children not only learn English and math or violin, but also philosophy, storytelling, debating, chess, or drawing through private tutoring even if their children do not want to do. The private tutoring is not over even when one goes to college. College students often rely on these private institutes to especially skills for a job interview or make a presentation. On the other hand, In “American Values and Assumptions” which is reported by Gray Althen, he indicated that certain phrases on commonly hears among Americans capture their devotion to individualism: “You’ll have to decide that for yourself.” “If you don’t look out for yourself, no one else will.” “Look out for number one.” “Be your own best friend.” As above, Americans idealize prefers an atmosphere of freedom, which is extremely strong and positive connotations. However, only a few Koreans admire people who become a reputational person without private education such as Hu-Min, who passed the qualification examination for Seoul University, which is the hardest university to admit in Korea. All of this means that most Koreans are living in competitive society.
In Korea there are many people who like drinking alcohol and many unique drinking cultures different from America. Most Koreans move to another bar and drink more after having their first drink even though they know that they will get a hangover next day, and it gives them many health problems. When the elders offer some drinks, Koreans are not able to refuse even when they feel very sick because obeying the elders is also one of the significant culture in Korea. They think that this situation is extremely dangerous and detrimental culture that has derived from a beneficial culture where they used to receive a shot of liquor as a gift from elders back in the days. From old times, socially most Koreans tend to drink alcohol together when they have a free time; they want to share the emotional feeling, get closer, and release the stress from the society while taking a drink each other. Despite these advantages, Americans prefer having individual time to drinking. Moreover, Americans assume that people “need some time to themselves” or “some time alone” to think about things or recover their spent psychological energy. (Para. 16, 17) In recent days, many companies and organizations have started a campaign to get rid of some harmful parts of drinking custom in Korea.
Another one is congratulation money at wedding custom. When Koreans are invited to a wedding ceremony, they prepare a white envelope with money in it. Marriage gifts are not common except with close friends. Most of guests give a white envelope to a receptionist at the wedding. A wedding is a huge family event, so Koreans give this congratulation money to help pay for the expenses. However, during the wedding season, usually from March to May, it costs a lot of money for salary workers since they are many weddings. On the average Koreans are being invited to the wedding at least ten to fifty times, and spend money approximately more than three thousand dollars. Even if they have expended some money in order to participate in a marriage ceremony, they do not care anything about that. However, in the United States, Americans do not give congratulation money. Instead of congratulation money, guests usually give gifts at the wedding. Often wedding couples register with a store so that guests know what silverware, plates, and other things what couples want to get. Therefore, most guests are able to order one or two products, and give it to them.
To summarize, one of the different cultures from America is private education, drinking custom, and congratulation money at wedding. As above, there are three different cultures from Korea and America. Different culture is an issue which people should understand and accept. It does not persist someone’s culture. Due to different culture, it is thought that people can experience the wild world. It is personal choice what culture people accept.

My Favorite Restaurant
Tin Drum is an Asian restaurant, which is very a famous in Atlanta, and I often go there at lunch time. Tin Drum is located in the center of the Tech Square. Therefore, it is only five minutes walk from Okeefe Building. The menu of Tin Drum is cheaper than other restaurents. In addition, after finish your food, you do not need to give some tip a waiter or waitress. In other words, you can save your money. Unfortunately, there is not a parking lot. If you want to go with your car, you have to use a paid parking lot in front of the restaurant.
